Dual Tone Multifrequency (DTMF) is a feature exclusive to Parloa's Phone 2 releases. TThis functionality enables users to interact with bots by pressing numbers on their phone's keypad, offering a convenient alternative to voice commands. This method mirrors traditional phone systems that prompt actions like "Press 1 for Customer Service" or request the entry of an account number. For further details on DTMF, click here.
Navigate to your speech assets in Parloa and create a new intent.
This step will create a DTMF slot, which you can later incorporate into your dialog flow.
By default, Parloa allows a 1-second (1000 milliseconds) pause between each digit entered by the user. This interval is customizable, providing the flexibility to tailor the system to your application's specific requirements.
DTMF is designed to work in tandem with your existing speech intents. It doesn't replace voice interaction capabilities; instead, it complements them. Offering both voice commands and keypad inputs enhances the user experience by providing multiple interaction options.
User Convenience: Offers an alternative interaction method, particularly useful in situations where speaking may not be practical.
System Efficiency: Facilitates a faster information-gathering process, as some users prefer inputting numbers over speaking.
Improved Accuracy: Reduces the likelihood of misunderstandings when conveying numerical information, such as account numbers or PINs.
Incorporating DTMF into your bot's interaction capabilities adds a layer of flexibility and efficiency, significantly enhancing the overall user experience.
